Terms & Conditions

Zawaj.lk (“Zawaj.lk”, “we”, “us”) is a private, verified matchmaking service that helps Sri Lankan Muslims seek marriage with sincerity and family honour. By creating an account or using the service, you agree to these Terms.

• You must be at least 18 years old.
• You must be using the service with a genuine intention of marriage (nikah).
• You must provide accurate information and a valid National Identity Card (NIC) for verification.
• You may create a profile for yourself, or as a parent or wali on behalf of your son or daughter.

To keep the community free of fakes and brokers, every member’s NIC is checked by our review team before their profile becomes visible. You agree that the identity details and documents you submit are truthful and belong to you (or the person you are creating the profile for). We may decline or revoke verification at our discretion.

You agree to use Zawaj.lk respectfully and for marriage intent only. You will not:

• Harass, deceive, threaten, or disrespect other members.
• Misrepresent your identity, marital status, or intentions.
• Solicit money, advertise, or act as a marriage broker.
• Share another member’s photos, messages, or contact details outside the service.
• Post unlawful, obscene, or haram content, or use the service for anything other than seeking a spouse.

We may suspend or remove accounts that breach these rules, and may involve the authorities where the law requires it.

A conversation opens only when two members express mutual interest. Messages are text-only. Either side may involve their family or wali at any time, and we encourage doing so as things progress towards nikah, In Sha Allah. We do not guarantee any match, response, or outcome.

Some features may require a paid subscription. Prices and inclusions are shown before purchase. Payments are handled by third-party providers (such as PayHere or Stripe); we do not store your full card details. Unless required by law, subscription fees are non-refundable for the period already started.

You keep ownership of the information and photos you provide. You grant us a limited licence to store and display them within the service so we can operate it (for example, showing your profile to verified members according to your privacy settings). You are responsible for the content you submit.

Your use of Zawaj.lk is also governed by our Privacy Policy, which explains what we collect and how we protect it — including your NIC and verification images.

You can pause or delete your account at any time from your settings. We may suspend or terminate accounts that breach these Terms or that we reasonably believe are fraudulent or unsafe.

The service is provided “as is”. We are not a guardian, agent, or guarantor of any member, and we do not verify every claim a member makes beyond identity. To the extent permitted by law, we are not liable for the conduct of members or for indirect or consequential losses arising from your use of the service.

We may update these Terms; we will post the new version here with a revised date, and significant changes will be notified in the app. These Terms are governed by the laws of Sri Lanka, and disputes are subject to the courts of Sri Lanka.
